The Hawaiian Gardens Memorial Day event is a tradition that has been going on for many years. The event is organized by the city and takes place at the Veterans Memorial in Furgeson Park. The park is located at 21815 Pioneer Blvd, Hawaiian Gardens, CA 90716.  The event usually starts in the morning with a flag ceremony and the singing of the national anthem. There are also speeches given by local officials and veterans, who share their experiences and express their gratitude for the sacrifices made by those who served in the military.  Following the speeches, there is a wreath-laying ceremony, where attendees can place flowers and wreaths at the base of the Veterans Memorial. The event also includes a 21-gun salute and the playing of Taps, a bugle call that is traditionally played at military funerals.

The Hawaiian Gardens Memorial Day event is important because it provides an opportunity for the community to come together and remember the sacrifices made by those who served in the military. It is a time to reflect on the bravery and selflessness of these individuals who put their lives on the line to protect our country and our freedom. The event also serves as a reminder that the freedoms we enjoy today came at a great cost. It is important to honor and remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice so that we can live in a free and democratic society.

American Legion Post 716 would like to express our sincere gratitude to Barney Felix for his representation at this year’s Memorial Day event in Hawaiian Gardens. His presence and participation were greatly appreciated and helped to make the event a success.  His commitment to honoring and remembering the fallen heroes who served in the U.S. military is truly commendable.  As a veteran himself, his presence at the event was especially meaningful and served as a reminder of the sacrifices made by those who served our country.  We are grateful for his service and sacrifice, and we are honored to have him as a member of Los Alamitos Post 716. His dedication to preserving the memory of our fallen heroes is an inspiration to us all.
