There are also speeches given by local officials and veterans, who share their experiences and express their gratitude for the sacrifices made by those who served in the military. Following the speeches, there is a wreath-laying ceremony, where attendees can place flowers and wreaths at the base of the Veterans Memorial. The event also includes a 21-gun salute and the playing of Taps, a bugle call that is traditionally played at military funerals.
