    American Legion Post 716 Honors Students at Oak Middle School

    Los Alamitos, CA – May 21, 2024 – In a ceremony filled with pride and celebration, Commander-Elect Bryan Bell and Adjutant Roger Haag of American Legion Post 716 presented the prestigious American Legion School Award Medal to two exemplary students at Oak Middle School’s 8th Grade Student Award Ceremony. This year’s honored recipients were Caslynn Charaffe and Matthew McKendrick, recognized for their exceptional qualities of leadership, character, and service to their school and community.

As veterans privileged to attend these events, the warmth of the community's appreciation was palpable, making it a morning to remember.

Their collaboration in assisting with "The Wall That Heals," a half-scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, has forged a powerful bond between the two communities.

    Hawaiian Gardens Memorial Day Event

    The Hawaiian Gardens Memorial Day event is a tradition that has been going on for many years. The event is organized by the city and takes place at the Veterans Memorial in Furgeson Park. The park is located at 21815 Pioneer Blvd, Hawaiian Gardens, CA 90716.  The event usually starts in the morning with a flag ceremony and the singing of the national anthem. There are also speeches given by local officials and veterans, who share their experiences and express their gratitude for the sacrifices made by those who served in the military.
